Consul General Stojiljković at the Commemoration of the 169th Anniversary of Nikola Tesla's Birth in Pula

The 169th anniversary of the birth of the great scientist Nikola Tesla was solemnly commemorated in Hugues Park in Pula, organized by the Serbian Cultural Society "Istra – Nikola Tesla".

On behalf of the Republic of Serbia, Consul General Ivana Stojiljković laid a wreath and gave statements to local media in both Serbian and Italian, emphasizing the universal value of Tesla’s scientific and humanistic legacy, as well as the importance of preserving the memory of his achievements and the higher mission he represented, nurturing spiritual and moral values.

The ceremony was attended by members of the Serbian community, citizens of Pula, and representatives of local and regional authorities. On behalf of the City of Pula, a wreath was laid by Andrea Peruško, Head of the Department for Local and Municipal Self-Government, who in her address emphasized that Pula proudly remembers Tesla as a symbol of scientific curiosity and dedication to a higher purpose.

On behalf of the Istrian Region, tribute to Tesla’s work and legacy was paid by Tea Batel, Head of the Department for the Italian National Autonomous Community, National Minorities, and Youth.

Representing the Serbian Cultural Society "Istra – Nikola Tesla", wreaths were laid by members of the Main Board Ljuba Stojaković and Dobrivoje Jaćimović, while the Society’s President, Milan Čubrilo, in his speech, recalled the significance of Tesla’s life journey and innovative spirit, which left a lasting impact on the course of modern civilization.

On behalf of the Community of Serbs in Istria and the Coordination of Serbs in Istria, wreaths were laid by Miloš Bajić and Rajko Mrkojević, highlighting the importance of preserving cultural heritage and the memory of prominent figures of Serbian and global heritage.

Following the ceremony, Consul General Ivana Stojiljković, accompanied by the President of the Serbian community in Istria, Miloš Bajić, visited the premises of the Council of the Serbian National Minority in Pula and the Serbian Cultural Center, which are currently undergoing renovation. The completion of works and the formal opening of the premises are expected in September 2025.
